Occupational Therapy is an evidence based profession that takes a holistic approach to your needs looking at all aspects of your life that are important to you. Occupational Therapy looks at practical ways to help you increase your independence and safety in your day to day life.
How will it help me?
If you are having problems due to disability, illness or general frailty our Occupational Therapist can assess you in your own home and help you identify ways to achieve greater independence and safety. She will give advice on equipment, adaptations or other ways to modify your home to achieve this and can also help you practice enablement programmes to reach your goals. Occupational Therapy can look at all age groups and conditions
Domestic task assessment
Dressing Assessment and advice
Transfer (how to get on and off toilet, chair, bed and in/out of the bath)
Assessment for grab rails
Assessment for appropriate seating to support you
Advice on housing and adaptations such as level access showers
Moving and handling advice
Enablement following surgery or illness
Reports for benefit claims
What to expect
Once you have made your appointment the Occupational Therapist will visit you at home to assess your abilities and provide advice and sign posting to other services. This appointment will last anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes depending on your needs. On occasion, you may need a follow up appointment.
